Services and Facilities

Our home comprises of three individually designed units, each with its unique theme and homely feel. Our aim is to give your loved one a sense of security and comfort during their stay with us at Nelson Manor.

Accommodation

All our bedrooms meet or exceed the required standard and we have the following facilities:

Ground Floor – Residential Accommodation

23 Bedrooms with en-suites including shower

2 Dedicated dining rooms

First Floor – Dementia Care

26 bedrooms with en-suites including shower
3 Lounges

Second Floor – Nursing

20 Bedrooms with en-suites including shower
2 Lounges
1 Dining room
1 Hairdressing salon
2 Spacious bathroom with electric bath

We will always try to allocate you a room of your choice. This is however, dependent on availability at the time of your admission to the home. Should your preferred room become vacant later, it may be possible to relocate.

We would encourage you to bring photographs, favorite ornaments, other treasured keepsakes or even small items of furniture that will help to personalize your room and make it feel more like "home".

General care

Should you require treatment while you are in your bedroom, your privacy and dignity will be respected at all times.

Should you require assistance at any time while you are in your room, there is a nurse-call system at hand for you to summon assistance. A staff member will come to you as soon as possible.

If your needs change, a meeting with you, your family or advocate, will be arranged. An assessment will be completed and a resolution reached that is individual and appropriate. You will be invited, along with your family or advocate, to attend an internal review meeting to discuss all aspects of your care provision.

Additional services

We encourage everyone within our home to take pride in their personal appearance. A trained hair stylist visits the home on a regular basis and you can have your hair done as you normally would ensuring that you always look and feel your best. This service is available to both male and female service users. Alternatively you may wish to visit your chosen hairdresser outside of the home.

The hairdresser is not employed by the care home and will charge you directly for services provided. Price details are displayed in the salon and are available from reception.

We are able to access the following additional services for you on request:

Chiropodist

A free service may be accessible via the local surgery. A private service can also be facilitated via our visiting chiropodist. A charge will be made for this.

Optician

A local provider visits to provide this service. There may be a charge for choices from fashion/designer ranges.

Dentist

We can facilitate a visit to the dentist for you which is free of charge. Alternatively a domiciliary visit could be arranged if this is necessary.

Other therapies can be arranged including; Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Physiotherapy – there would be an additional charge for this.
